Gerald Huebner | Chair
Gerald Huebner and his wife, Bev, live in Arborg, Manitoba, north of Winnipeg. Gerald works in senior management for Manitoba Agriculture, Food, and Rural Initiatives. They have graduated their two children after fourteen great years of homeschooling. Gerald and Bev are enjoying two grand children. They have been involved in leadership with the Manitoba Association of Christian Home Schools (MACHS) since 1992. Gerald has been a director on the board of HSLDA of Canada since 2000.


Paul Faris | President
As the oldest in a family of seven children, Paul was homeschooled on his family's farm in St. Thomas, Ontario. Paul went on to study history and political science at the University of Western Ontario, before graduating from their law school in 2001. He was called to the bar of the Law Society of Upper Canada (Ontario) in 2002. In 2003, Paul joined HSLDA of Canada as legal counsel and became executive director in 2005. Paul lives in London, Ontario with his wife, Suzanne, also a homeschool graduate.


Dan Reinhardt
Dr. Dan Reinhardt is the Founder and Director of the CREST Leadership Program, an innovative leadership development program whose mission is "Impacting Mid-Life Learners to Fulfill Their Compelling Dreams." Established in 2002, CREST has trained over a hundred leaders through its various programs. Leaders trained include pastors, lay persons, business owners, and executive teams of major Canadian charities: Focus on the Family, Evangelical Fellowship of Canada, Compassion Canada, 100 Huntley Street, Opportunity International, and Christian Business Ministries Canada.


Doug Ward
Doug Ward
Doug Ward currently serves as a fundraiser with Compassion Canada, an evangelical church-based organization. After high school, he earned a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education at the University of Western Ontario and a master’s degree from Winnipeg Theological Seminary. Doug married Donna in 1978 and together they have raised four homeschooled children. He has gained work experience as a youth pastor, youth camp ministries worker and has served as a member of various provincial and national Christian ministry boards.


Shaun Humphries
Shaun Humphries is a graduate of the University of Regina, majoring in Marketing and Finance. He has worked in the financial services industry since 1984. He has his own planning practice with Assante Capital Management and specializes in investment and retirement income planning. Shaun and his wife, Tanya, live in Winnipeg, Manitoba. They have four children: Hannah, Avery, Joshua, and Paul. As a family, they have been homeschooling since their daughter reached school age. Shaun joined the board of HSLDA of Canada in February 2009.


J. Michael Smith
Michael Smith the President of HSLDA USA. As a licensed Attorney, he has been an advocate for homeschooling in the U.S. and Canada since 1981, representing thousands of families. He continues to serve on the HSLDA of Canada board, having been one of the founding board members. He writes a regular column for the Washington Times and is recognized as a media expert on homeschooling and parental rights issues. Michael and his wife Elizabeth have four children, three have graduated from homeschooling.
