The 2018-2019 school year continues to be an interesting year of transition for home educators in Québec. HSLDA Canada has been aware of the changes to the homeschooling regulations and our team remains dedicated to keeping you updated.

In particular, we are aware that some families received a call or letter from their local school board requesting they sign a document and bring in their child’s birth certificate. HSLDA has confirmed with the Direction de l’enseignement à la maison (DEM) that these requests were sent in error and no action is required. Since this is a transitional year, we encourage all homeschool families to contact us with any questions and/or concerns as they arise.

Please note that our member site also has more information about the new homeschooling regulation for Québec in both French and English. In addition, the companion guide to Homeschooling in Québec can also be found here.

HSLDA Canada continues to work diligently to provide you with the most updated information as it becomes available.

HSLDA: the partner in your homeschool success.
