Our third update on the WISDOM/Trinity decision in Alberta
As we reported to you last week, WISDOM/Trinity had filed a request for a review of the decision that shut them down on October 25th. The case was heard on Friday, November 4th, and as you may have seen and heard, the judge ruled in favour of WISDOM/Trinity and gave a temporary injunction, meaning that WISDOM/Trinity is allowed to continue operating as normal, except without receiving any further funding from the government, until the next court date set for January 5, 2017. Wisdom continues to demonstrate its integrity and commitment to home education by operating with severely limited funding.
This means that families can continue homeschooling as normal without needing to re-notify anywhere. HSLDA is continuing in discussion with AHEA and other pertinent parties to ensure that homeschooling families in Alberta have the information, support, and options that they need.
AHEA’s statement as well as the news report from the Edmonton Journal can be read for further details and perspective. We will update again as details emerge. Thank you for your patience in this process, and for your support of homeschooling across Canada.
