About the Speaker

Patty Marler is the Member Support Specialist and part of the Government and Media Relations team at HSLDA Canada. As a veteran homeschooler with over two decades of experience, she has guided her own children from early learning through to high school graduation. Patty is passionate about helping families discover the freedom and flexibility of homeschooling, encouraging them to create learning experiences that truly fit their children, because every homeschool looks different by design.

In this workshop, Patty will draw on her extensive experience supporting homeschooling families and educating her own children. She has helped all four of her children gain admission to six different postsecondary institutions without following the traditional provincial credentialing path. In her work with HSLDA members, Patty has supported countless families in navigating the high school years with confidence — developing personalized plans, choosing engaging curriculum, and preparing students for what comes next. She loves helping parents shift from feeling overwhelmed to feeling equipped and inspired.

This special HSLDA publication was created to give parents planning and record keeping materials for homeschooling in the high school years, with an extra bonus of a curated collection of opportunities for youth across Canada.

What you’ll get in the workshop workbook, High School at Home: Get Equipped Guide:

Table of Contents – Easy access to the sections of the guide and a short list of online sources with additional guidance for homeschooling teenagers.
High School Readiness Checklist – A preparation list to help consider various factors of the high school experience before your child starts grade nine, but useful even if your child has already begun their high school education.
